In half calf with worn marbled boards, corners & edges bumped & worn. Spine, relaid retaining most of the old, gilt tooling, new gilt title to leather label. Internally, lacks map frontis, (vii), [1], B-4G5, (not paginated), 3 maps (only), (S America, Europe-worn at edges & Spain Portugal-torn), later endpapers, titlepage a little cropped, pencil name to preface (John Williams Tycerrig), 2 columns per page, some wear at edges, browning and soiling. (16.5*9.5 cms, .5 kg). Brookes, physician and author left scant evidence of his life, except numerous compilations and translations on medicine, surgery, natural history, and geography, most of which went through several editions.
