2 volumes. In green cloth covers with leather & gilt label on spines. With Frontispiece engraving by Landseer, vignette title page and in text engravings throughout. The text of this well known sporting biography contains many references to Medwin's friends Shelley and Byron, in addition to accounts of Medwin's sporting adventure's as a Lieutenant with the 24th Dragoon Guards. Some light browning & foxing to the first 4 blank pages and then the frontispiece and title page but not detracting from the text or plate. Both volumes with 2 ink ownership signatures to fpd's and 2 blind stamps of George Prichard to ffep. Vol 1,frontis, with small water mark to margin, titlepage with ink name at head, [4] (vi-xv), [2], 2-336 pp. Vol 2, frontis with some foxing to margins and verso, [3], (iv-vii) [2], 2-348 pp, printed by S Bentley, Dorset Street, Fleet Street. Medwin, writer and biographer, also published a substantial amount of literary criticism and poetry; one play; a novel, Lady Singleton, attacking England's stringent divorce laws; and the semi-autobiographical Angler in Wales (1834), incorporating material from his Indian journals.
