Bound in scarlet levant morocco, polished, covers blocked in gilt with large outline cross framed with double gilt rule, 5 raised bands, spine panelled in gilt with gilt titling, board edges ruled in gilt, 3 gilt dots on headcaps, turn-ins decorated in gilt with triple rule fillet, signed in gilt on turn-in of rear lower cover HORACE W BRAY GEORGE FISHER GREGYNOG PRESS BINDERY. Has small bookseller label to last blank, has the bookplate of John Roland Abbey to fpd, has Abbeys initials and date with book ref number to rear blank. Published in November 1927, Poliphilus type on Batchelor hand made paper, 25 wood engravings by RA Maynard and HW Bray, hand coloured, chapter openings in pale blue, initial letters in red and paragraph marks in red, drawn with a quill by HW Bray, top edge gilt, (2), 41 pp colophon. The colouring was done by the women who worked the the Bindery under the supervision of Horace Bray. Accompanied by an airmail letter from Philip C Duschnes (dealer) to James L Thielman (collector) dated June 1968 offering him this and another Gregynog Special for sale.
