Spine cloth has been replaced with similar, no title. Internally, yellow endpapers, 48 plates, dated 1792, 1795, 1806, some not dated, has title by hand in ink to base of text block, light sporadic foxing. This is the soft cover, plate only version, which is much more uncommon than the hardbound version with text alongside. Forty eight beautiful plates by Byrne. (Oblong 27*21cm). Hoare, landowner and antiquary had a particular fondness for Wales, as did many of his fellow antiquaries, and he made a significant contribution to its travel literature with his translation of Gerald of Wales, published as Giraldus de Barri, Itinerary of Archbishop Baldwin through Wales AD 1188 (1806).
