In blue embossed cloth, title and surround in gilt, beveled edges, corners & edges lightly bumped & worn, upper joint a little weak. Spine, no title, edges bumped & worn, upper joint cracked at head. Internally, yellow endpapers, all edges gilt, no inscriptions, frontis, illustrated title page followed by two leaves of plate listings, 54 plates, each with a guard, some plates 1 per leaf some four, [4] adverts, oblong 22.5*14.5, some light foxing to blanks only, not dated but circa 1850?, per Anderson 340. This has to be one of the best image books of its period. The images include, Plas Newydd, Eagle Tower Carnarvon Castle, Carnarvon Castle, The Britannia & Menai Bridges, Beaumaris from Baron Hill, Penrhyn Castle, The Slate Quarries, Gwrych Castle Abergele, Summit of Snowdon etc. Humphreys, printer and publisher and amongst the most important books that he issued were the edition (1883) of Pennant 's Tours in Wales, which John Rhys, afterwards principal of Jesus College, Oxford, edited for him; a new edition (1864), edited by Cynddelw, of Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru; a translation by Eben Fardd, of Chambers's Information for the People (1856), a translation of Josephus (1882), and editions of the poetical works of Dewi Wyn, Cawrdaf, Ieuan Brydydd Hir, and Cynddelw (qq.v.).
