The first Quarto Edition, (204*288 mm), in the original deluxe publishers full dark green morocco, all covers blocked with wide elaborate gilt borders & centered with the gilt Armorial Ensigns of Jerusalem. Spines skilfully rebacked, raised bands, decorative gilt tooling & titles, edges brushed. Internally, yellow endpapers, a.e.g, plates are broken down as 248 lithographed guarded plates, which were photographically reduced from the earlier edition, & include a portrait & titles pages, each with descriptive text leaf, plus 2 maps by Louis Haghe after Roberts. Covers refurbished, & the occasional spot to a leaf, a small bookseller label to fpd of 2 vols. Probably the cleanest copy we have had. A superb set. (Abbey Travel 388. Ray 88.
