Annesley, first earl of Anglesey, inherited his father's Irish titles in 1660, and was created Baron Pagnel and earl of Anglesey in the English peerage on 20 April 1661, but during the initial years of the Restoration his influence was confined mainly to Ireland. He was appointed vice-treasurer and receiver-general of Ireland in August 1660, and was deeply involved in fashioning the Irish land settlement. See ODNB.
