Spine, title and tooling in gilt, edges rubbed. Internally, later endpapers, ink name to fep, half title present, text block edges speckled red, slightly cocked, occasional pencil note, light browning. First published in 1858. (177*122 mm). Bentham, botanist, whose introduction to the Handbook was very important, being used again, only slightly modified, to set out a recommended botanical procedure in the Colonial Floras-the series describing the plants of the British empire written at Kew in the nineteenth century.
