Internally, [2], [2], (iii-x) leaves, [4] subscribers, [2] contents, 36 B&W plates, tissue guarded, each with a leaf of descriptive text, plates dated 1788, 89 & 90, text leaves watermarked WL, some light spotting, edge browning & chipping, top edge trimmed, remainder not, hinges strengthened. Contemporary signature to fep (Francis? P Scott). (298*228 mm). Birch, enamel painter & printmaker was particularly successful in adapting his skills for translating larger works to a smaller scale. He emigrated to the US in 1794 & his reputation was boosted by the nearly sixty enamels and miniatures he produced, including George Washington.
