The first edition of the principal handbook on British Birds published during the 19th C, with both Supplements. It is accurate, well written and the illustrations are excellent. Yarrell recorded his subjects in a way that became a model for later authors. 5 volumes in 3, uniformly bound in stiff half vellum over red marbled boards, spines with gilt titles to red calf labels. Bound without the half titles.
