Internally, half title, frontis, title with vignette, [5], (vi-xvi), [1], 2-516 pp, 8 colour chromolithographs, 9 maps (some folding), 23 woodcuts, new endpapers, small signature on title (McDaniel), light edgewear, one map with short tear, lightly foxed. (208*136 mm). (Neate 18). There was also a second series with plain plates as well as a number of later printings. Ball was the first President of the Alpine Club and his travelers guide to the Alps was the standard work for many years.
