Modern spine. Upper board MS label reads: 1807, 18 (his age). Chepstow, Tintern Abbey, Llantony Abbey, Abergavenny, 18th-26th July 1807. On the inner board he has written R. Batty began July 18th - 1807, and underneath is written published 1823. with twenty-eight pages of outline pencil sketches, each identified and dated, some also with the time of day, e.g. Tintern Abbey, Wednesday evening. On the rear board are some notes on directions, 4 miles, to the left an oak tree. Contemporary half-calf, worn and covers detached. These may have formed the basis for his 1823 publication Welsh Scenery. ( 228*158 mm).
