First edition, early issue, tall folio in red half morocco over red cloth (by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for Quaritch), a few small bumps, mark to cloth, gilt titles to spine. Internally, title, introduction, followed by 50 superb hand coloured aquatint plates on stiff card, plates dated 1810, text leaves watermarked J Whatman 1808, all plates & text leaves mounted on stubs, very occasional spot, lower corner to plates & some text leaves with discreet oval embossed stamp of the Library of the Peabody Institute, with a No. stamp to tp verso, t.e.g., binders stamp to fpd.
