Spine, faded slightly, gilt titles & tooling, edges bumped. Internally, not dated but 1907, half title with limitation to verso, coloured frontis with guard, illustrated title page, [4] (v-xi), [1], 2-161 pp, [1], [1], 13 full page coloured illustrations, with captioned tissue-guards, mounted on brown paper, 14 B&W illustrations (2 full page & the remainder within text), plus signed illustrated endpapers (browned), a few leaves with light spotting, browning or offsetting, t.e.g., others uncut. Title states - proem (sic) by Austin Dobson? (283*230 mm) (Latimore/Haskell p28. Riall p77). This is the only edition of Alice ever officially signed by Rackham (20 of the 270). Rackham's illustrations for this work were highly controversial, as the English public already identified the story with thew drawings of John Tenniel.
